Weekly Challenge at Inspiration Avenue: "Aged Beauty"

The theme for this week's challenge was set by Luthien, one of our longtime team members who has been on hiatus to care for her beautiful preemie baby, Maia.  We've missed her SO much!  Anyway, the theme she chose was "Aged Beauty" and I thought my new painting was a perfect fit.  I think I'm done with it- I'm getting to the point that while I can see things that I would improve, I don't want to get too fussy with it....so I think she is complete!

The whole time I've been working on this, it felt familiar like someone I've painted before...then it came to me- my college graduation project- here is a (bad) picture of it, but you'll get an idea...
I gave it to my parents a "thank you for college" present........and yes even then I loved paing red hair!
Be sure to stop by Inspiration Avenue this Sunday to see what everyone else came up with for AgedBeauty- I know it will be a glorious collection!
Stephanie
P.S. I hope all my American friends had a beautiful Thanksgiving filled with blessings and wonderful food!

And a lovely belated Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, dear Stephanie. Wow, that is one impressive beauty and one truly aged beauty. The latest art lady is almost sinister. It looks like she is planning revenge on someone. It's amazing the emotions I believe I've read into this one. Stunning is the word I have for this piece.

Stephanie, I love all of the white...and how you can capture all of the shades...the painted iron with the rust and then the porcelain skin.and the fingernails...so amazing. IT'S BEAUTIFUL and WONDROUS!

A remarkable painting! and the longer I look, the more I see. I bet it's just stunning in person. She looks filled with steely resolve to me - and the use of all the whites is just genius. Thanks so much for sharing.

Wow such a strong portrait - love her pale skin and deep eyes and the splashes of crimson! She certainly looks as if she has a story to tell! I love your work especially when it has a slightly dark edge to it like this :)
