Yay it's Friday and I have a painting to share for Paint Party Friday and well as an entry for the Summer of Color. I started this painting about this time last year and while I mostly liked it, I wasn't happy with her expression- she looked angry where I wanted her to have an air of contemplation about her.
So when I saw that this week's ice cream color challenge was Baseball Nut (a flavor I've never heard of BTW;)) and the colors were raspberry, vanilla and cashews, I thought this would be a perfect time to finish her plus use her as an entry for the Summer of Colors!
I added more shadows to her face and changed her mouth and eyes a little.....
and here she is from before.....
I might do a little more tweaking or maybe I won't....I kind of think she's finished now- what do you think?
I'm off to visit my friends at the parties now- won't you join me?

Simply beautiful - a wonderful painting with so much feeling and expression - you don't need to do another thing - perfect as she is!
I really would like to know more about her and what is going on inside her head. Her hands are beautiful. I would love to have them.
Beautiful portrait! :) Love the look in her eyes.
Beautiful. Dramatic shadows. I think she is finished!
Hello Stephanie, she's really great, she looks very determined, there is a real aura about her, wonderful piece!
Good job Stephanie, I think she's finished! I love how you actually took her from mad to pensive!! Excellent!! Thanks for sharing...I love see those before and after shots...Not sure I could change up the emotions like that! I get what I get it seems!! Inspirational!! Thanks!

The addition of colour to the face and hands really enhances this piece and adds warmth and attention/focus, nicely done. It's a fine line between finished and over done, one of the hardest things is knowing when to stop. To me this painting is finished.
Such a great painting. It evokes strong emotions!!

Wonderful & so interesting to see how you changed. I wish I could sit beside you and learn as you paint. She now looks intense and beguiling to me. Superb & evocative.

I think she is amazing!!
Stunning artwork.....you did an amazing job with this weeks colours!! Jan x
I don't mean to sound like I'm copy-catting JansArtyJunk, but stunning was the first word to come to mind when I saw these. I think both versions are fabulous. The one from before is kind of eery, yet cool at the same time and then you kind of get to see a different side of her in the after photo. I really admire this girl in the painting, she seems like she would be kind of a feisty woman, who knows what she wants. That's my kind of peeps.
Anyway, I'm Sarah, I just started following and I really admire your work. I am an art lover, I've always wished I had skills like yours, but I didn't get that gift unfortunately, so I'm glad that there are people like you in the world for me to admire.
This is wonderful blog!
