Poppy Love!

 

 I finished my new painting- as always the minute I get it up on the monitor, I see things that I would touch up  or change a bit.  But it's at that point that it needs to be finished.  So, I'm declaring it "finished"! 

And for the most part, I'm really happy with it!

Birthday Fun

Some of you might have noticed that I kind of like flowers.....well OK, I LOVE them!  Anyway, each year in the week leading up to my birthday my Dad takes me plant shopping.  Last year we got 6 blueberry bushes at the whole sale place (we now have our first crop of the little beauties ripening on the vine er branch ;))
Yesterday, we went to Goodness Grows and wonderful garden whole sale (gotta love those tax ID#'s they get you the best deals!) nursery and I went nuts.  Not only does this place have a the regular plants, they also have a lot of unusual varieties that you just can't find any where else, and for such a good price!  We got Old Fashioned Nicotiana (flowering tobacco) an annual that reseeds prolifically - I love it when garden gives back :)  also some Queen Anne's Lace which I LOVE, a pink Clematis with tulip-like blooms a Baptista and Russian Sage.  Except for my tobacco plant and the clematis most of my plants were fairly normal things that I've been wanting to add to my garden.......

I MUST remember this grouping when I plant my delphinium and foxgloves this fall.....

After buying flowers, we went for a beautiful lunch in Athens home of the Georgia Bulldogs and then got stuck in traffic for two hours.....all in all, what a GREAT day!

Still having computer woes and a little more of my Zinnia......

Have you ever heard the saying about the shoemaker's wife going barefoot?  Well, my husband is an IT guy and I'm still without my computer 80% of the time.  I can usually sneak online for about 10-15 minutes before it freaks out and goes black screen on me.  Bill has tried several things to fix it but to no avail and now it's gone for long enough that it's kind of been put on the back burner.  I wouldn't mind so much, but my computer is the only one I can upload photos to which makes it hard for me to blog.....for now, I race on; upload my photos to my image software and then if I'm lucky enough to maintain a connection long enough to get on Picassa, load my pics there.  THEN, I'm able to blog from Bill's Think pad and use Picassa to add photos......arrrgh!  But at least I do have options even if they're a bit convoluted!
So, I just managed to get my pictures of my new painting onto Picassa- of course they're from Monday and I've done more painting since then....but still, it should be enough to at least give you an idea of where it's going.  My goal is to finish it in time to submit for this week's challenge at Inspiration Avenue.  The theme is St. Paddy's Day and what could be more appropriate than a green flower, I ask?
So here she is:

 

 Since taking these pictures, I've added more lime green and softened the back ground and the Ultra marine blue Salvia is well under way.  Hopefully, the next time I post about this, it will be DONE!

New acrylic painting- Concert en Bleu

I just finished my newest acrylic painting yesterday.  Evidently, I'm in a "blue mood" because for every bit of purple I used, I back lit or highlighted it with various shades of blue.  Anyway, enough rambling;for more information and pictures, click HERE.

New painting!

Here's newest painting from my Zinnia series.  This is an original 12" X 12" acrylic painting portraying the dynamic inner workings of a carmine red zinnia. The center feeds to the pale green stamens which in turn lead to the curling twists of petals in the process of opening. The composition is completed with a grand finale combining petals of vermillion, crimson and burgundy.  You can see more photos of it and my other works at my Etsy shop.
