One of my favorite plants in my summer garden are my mini butterfly bushes- I have 8 lining my front borders and by the middle of July it becomes downright magical with bees and butterflies flitting about like something from a Disney princess dream!
Really, the only maintenance required for the pugster blues (aka mini butterfly bushes) is a hard prune in late February and then weekly deadheading. I adore spotting my little bumbly-bees sleeping on the blooms- so SWEET. A word of caution tho, they DO sting and it DOES hurt as I discovered this morning during my weekly trimming duties.
So I’ll be sure to be a bit more cautious in the future, since I’m invading their space instead of the other way around!
Happy gardening!
Stephanie
