Traveling Journal Journey: Tammy's Journal

I know, I know......it's been FOREVER since I posted.  We've had a ton of projects going on around here- had a tree in the front yard taken down which led to a ton of other projects and I just haven't been painting.  Except for in the traveling books.  This month, I had Tammy's book to work in and her color theme is Black, Tan & White.  Tammy loves reading and gardening just like me so I took that as a starting point....and I'd fallen in love with a pin of an incredible garden window....so it all fell into place.
Here it is; I wanted to have a shadow box effect, so the woman and frame are raised up and glued onto a piece of cardboard.  The other side actually opens to read a note for Tammy.

I found a quote by Cicero that I thought was perfect

The woman reminded me a little of Jane in Disney's Tarzan......

And here's the window that inspired it all:

Check out our Magical Journal Journey Pinterest page to see what everyone else has been creating!  That's all for now, I'll try to get by to visit soon and share some of these projects I've been so busy with!

Oh Steph, this is fantastic. I am in awe. The window is gorgeous and the lady reading looks so entranced. I love the quote. Thank you so much. I feel honored. I can't wait to see it in person.

That is one of my all time favorite quotes...and this is one of my favorite paintings...can you imagine doing this on a canvas? I love windows and the idea of peeking in a little portal, wow, this is magical Stephanie!

Gorgeous pages! The fab colour scheme and the way you've used it brings to mind being swept away into historical costume dramas. I love the lady reading in the window - I kept looking and imagining who she was, what was outside the window and what she was reading. It drew me into that world. The quote is great and indeed perfect for Tammy.
