Weekly Challenge- "Simplicity"

Let me just begin by saying simple doesn't necessarily mean *easy*-  for me, it seems to always be easier to produce a painting chock full of details and layers of color- definitely NOT simple but for what ever reason, easier!  That said, when Cindi set this week's challenge at Inspiration Avenue she was spot on in terms of where I need to go in my work.  My own personal goal right now is to alternate my flower paintings with freer pieces and see where they lead me.  It's time to move out of my safety zone, and this was the first chance I had to give it a go....which of course, led to artist's block!  You won't be able to tell, but I really struggled with this- not only is it small for me- 5" x 7",  it's really HARD to put the brush away and not go intricate!!!
Won't you take a moment to enter something in this week's challenge- the theme is "Simplicity" and it qualifies all non team members for a fabulous monthly giveaway!  If nothing else, be sure to pop over to Inspiration Avenue to what everyone else has done.  It's always a thrill to see the variety of responses to each theme!
Till next time- toodles!
Stephanie

Oh my... This is such a beautiful painting... I understand about trying to be more free and not so mired in the details. I struggle with that... It is much easier to do a more detailed piece. Very nice work!

Thank you, Stephanie, for painting a face!!!
You are tremendously talented.
It reminds me of my masquerade painting (I just sold it this week) BUT, yours is...well you just are better than I am :)
I love it, girlfriend...simplicity isn't simple.

You make simple look easy, and yet, you make it look very detailed, and oh so well drawn. I am in total awe of your ability and I think you need to make an entire series from this one. They would sell in a heartbeat.

Wow, Stephanie! This is just stunning! My hubby always tells me that the hardest part of painting is knowing when to stop. And you are right ... simple doesn't mean easy. You've done a brilliant job on this piece! :)

Oh how lovely! I find simplicity hard too, but you have really done a great job with this - it's both simple yet enigmatic!

Nicely done, Stephanie. Has an air of ... mystery? Seduction? Hmmm ... have to study it a bit more!

wow Stephanie! You are so talented! I love everything about it. Great submission for the challenge.I know how you feel about going small. I have a hard time with it too. You should do more faces. Here again, it is so hard to get out of the comfort zone, but I don't see that you have any problem!

Beautiful painting, love the butterfly over her face like that Stephanie, your eye(s) are beautiful too, something I still have to practice a lot. Actually the entire face is always a challenge for me.
Great to see your working outside your comfort zone, if we never did that we would never grow would we?
