Paint Party Friday- May 27

Whew, I really feel like I'm late for the party, but I'm here at last!  For this week, I'm sharing part of my spread for Kim Maillot's sketchbook for the month of May for our traveling sketchbooks.
Some of you might notice that the colors are primarily purple and green- there's a reason for that!  The weekly challenge at Inspiration Avenue is based on that color combo....I should know, since it was my turn to set the challenge, lol!  I'll be posting the spread in it's entirety in the next day.....for now, this painting had a mind of it's own from the start.  I knew that it was going to be these colors, but that's the only thing that has stayed since I started it.  First of all, I started with a lavender sky- and lots of clouds.....the woman was in a kind of frolicky ballet pose- she was meant to be one of my Joie de Vivre figures....but, the muse said uh, uh!  It needs to be night with the suggestion of trees and the lady NEEDS a lantern....so there there you go!  I might do a little more, or I might call it done- it's at the point where I'm pretty happy with it and I always worry about overworking at this point!
Be sure to stop by Paint Party Friday to see what everyone else has been up to this week!
Cheers,
Stephanie

I think this is wonderful. Very mysterious. Reminds me of La Llorona, a lady who walked the river carrying a lantern looking for her children. Love it! Happy PPF!

Yay,another sketchbook post! I love the mood of this scene. The moon, the trees... I just want to follow her and see where she's going. The colors are two of my favorite combinations. Wonderful work!

Do I see another face on the right side? This painting is like a dream, the colors are very beautiful (I immediately had to think of the IA challenge, because I'm struggling with that) anhd I really like this night scene. I'll come back to see the entire painting.

Purple and green is one of my favorite combos and this is a lovely use of the colors. Feels very .... Jane Austen. The flowing nightgown and lantern are so evocative. And I think I see another profile on the right - subtle but a nice touch.

Almost there , alone in a field enclosed by towering spheres of heavily scented blue flowers...eerie yet entrancing and curious.
A light to find one's way while exploring is a must in this very magical setting….purrrfect touch with the lantern!

This painting stirred distant thoughts of England of once finding myself sleeping one night by a castle near the sea in Wales with my two friends…we were scared out of the blue and yet entranced by the surrounding beauty!

Beautifuul work!

Oooh that little scamp Mojo....those two pics would make great paintings.

Still watching Buffy!

I think the painting could go either way, finished or more. How's that for indecision! haha Just lovely color combinations. You really have a knack for that. She is beautiful and so mysterious, I love it!
