The theme this week at Inspiration Avenue is "Fear" and truth be told, I'm scared of a LOT of things....but I wanted to keep this basic and throw a little whimsey in there. So I decided not to do spiders or the dark (yep, I'm a little scared of the dark) or any of the other things I'm afraid of and play with my fear of birds. Mostly I LOVE birds, at least the ones at my feeder. The ones I don't like are the ones that attack you sometimes; like hawks or falcons. SO, that's what I played with- here's my take on "Fear"
Also, I wanted to start something for the October journal of the Traveling Sketchbooks; even tho I don't have the journal with me, I feel like working on it, so I'm doing it tip in style! I'm not done with her yet, but I feel like I'm headed in the right direction for my October entry with the Sistahs....
I'm also linking with Paint Party Friday - check them and Inspiration Avenue out if you get a chance; there's always tons of beautiful art at both places to admire! There where I'll be hanging out the next few days!
Happy Friday!
Stephanie

Beautifully scary piece - echos of Hitchcock! Valerie
Wonderful ~ dramatic and colorful ~ thanks, namaste, Carol (Share the Creative Journey) ~ Happy PPF ^_^
Wow, this is really beautiful! I love the flowing blue color.
Very dramatic, lots of movement. Nice blues too. It's great. Love the crow princess. Happy PPF!
what a great piece. i love the masquerade ball style mask and the birds intertwined in her hair!
Hitchcock has a lot to answer to I think.... it is magpie breeding season here in Australia at the moment and they are all swooping and attacking just like in your work. They aren't as pretty as this though. xx
I dig the blackbirds in her hair! Happy PPF!
This is one truly impressive painting. Love the birds with shades of Hitchcockian fear. Nice take on the theme at IA this week, Stephanie. And that mask is very birdlike, too. I can tell you put a lot of thought into this lovely composition.
the colours do inspire fear!
It may represent fear, but it is gorgeous. I love the way the birds are integrated in the hair, and the bird mask.
wow, I love this, the way you merged the hair and birds is truly wonderful! all so flowing!
Love the flow and the colors and your crow princess and the birds. Really nice!
I actually don't see this as scary but rather very very beautiful!!! Of course I just love hawks , falcons, crows and ravens so its all very friendly to me! Gorgeous painting!
The colors are great and the birds in her hair really make it! Very creative.
I REALLY like this execution of fear. It has an 'edge' to it that is really really thrilling and scary!
Totally awesome and if it's not done I can't wait to see the finished work !!
This is a great painting with fantastic color and movement. The bird mask on her face is stunning!
So - were you ever attacked by hawks or falcons? I sometimes have a red shouldered hawk perching on my fence in the garden and I love when s/he is there! I had never thought that s/he would attack me - I think s/he is more afraid of me!
Fabulous! Love the colour and flow of this piece - she does look a little distressed...
Great one!
I didn't see a post for IA's theme this week - fear, eh? Hmmm
There's a lot of power and pathos in this. Very beautiful and mythical.
I love the flow of this painting. Gorgeous
You always WOW me Girlfriend!
Mia is afraid of those flocks of black birds...they are a bad omen (she says) I think I have never seen so many as I have in the past 2 years. I agree...creepy.
But your art is not. Totally beautiful and imaginative♥♥♥

Step,
Your artwork is beautiful, as always. I can't wait to see it finished. I can't imagine the world without the choir of birds ~* They truly live without fear!
This is gorgeous Stephanie. I LOVE it. I love birds too but must admit some predatory birds are frightening.
Wonderful and yes scary as I thought the same thing as Valerie, Hitchcock's birds.
OMG, this is fabulous, Stephanie!
Love the flow and the repeated bird theme in this one Steph!
WOW Stephanie...this is truly dramatic! I love it!
