Weekly Challenge at Inspiration Avenue: "What's Your Favorite Month?"

Judy had a really fun theme this week at inspiration avenue- "What's your favorite month".  I immediately said April, because I LOVE Spring, when the garden is bursting with new life and it's also my birth month.  I usually get a gift from my garden- each year my roses bloom just in time for my birthday......
With the return of the flowers, comes the return of the hummingbirds- I could watch these little beauties ALL day long!  I love when they surprise me working in the garden, I'll ear the sound of their wings, look up; and there one is- right beside me!
So, for my entry this week at IA, I created a painting in an effort to encompass it all.....the hummers, roses, infinity and of course a muse for the garden....
Here is "Infinite Spring"

There are three hummingbirds "hidden" in the background of green roses with one coral-ly pink rose for contrast and I couldn't resist giving the muse a touch of Klimtishness with her medallions....

Here is something I found on Hummers that I thought was neat:

The hummingbird symbolizes many different concepts. Because of its speed, the hummingbird is known as a messenger and stopper of time. It is also a symbol of love, joy, and beauty. The hummingbird is also able to fly backwards, teaching us that we can look back on our past. But, this bird also teaches that we must not dwell on our past; we need to move forward. When the hummingbird hovers over flowers while drinking nectar, we learn that we should savour each moment, and appreciate the things we love.
Very fitting symbol for the theme....
Be sure to hop over to Inspiration Avenue to see what everyone else created for the theme- I'm always amazed at the variety we get each week!

Oh Steph, she is so gorgeous. How lucky to have Humming birds visit you. I have never seen one. I love how you captured their movement.

I'm inspired by Klimt this week too. I'm taking an online course with Tam of Willowing and this week's featured artist is the man himself. I ordered a book 3 weeks ago of his work and it still hasn't turned up yet... [sulking].

This really is such a beauty!

So beautiful! I love the ethereal hummingbirds. They seem to blend into the background and yet look so solid that you feel they might fly right out of the painting. I agree, April is a beautiful month!

This is a lovely painting! I love hummers, too. I don't see many of them around here anymore. I love the rich colors in this one, the girl's eyes, and the hummers hovering around her. Beautiful.

Stephanie..I love her! I love everything about her. She looks Egyptian to me, yet she could be anywoman from anywhere. I love how the hummingbirds are hidden..wow..I'm at a loss for words.

She is very beautiful, as are all your paintings. I love the hummingbirds, the Klimtishness as you called it of it and is very fitting for the theme. I need to ponder now what month is Mine!! xx

Oh my, what a gorgeous entry! I love the little hummingbirds that you hid in your painting. I love these little birds as well. Spring is a beautiful season (although I'm more the autumn type, but all seasons have their beauty).

This is a beautiful piece. I am with you on the amazing hummingbirds. I love when the come to my backyard, I stop everything and just watch them. You have caught the beauty of them in your piece here. Love the one on her shoulder. Very nice.

Steph this is amazing!! I love the subtle way you've so incorporated the hummingbirds into the image, almost hidden but adding depth and beauty. The symbolism is really interesting, and yes so fitting for the theme. I love it!!

This painting is SO rich in detail. I had to look hard to find the three hummingbirds, but finally found them all. Your painting is so rich with beauty, I kept getting distracted. And of course, April is my favorite month, too. Looks like we both have birthdays during April.

Lovely IA Challenge entry and great reasoning, too.
