Paint Party Friday- April 15th!

It's paint party Friday again and you know what that means!  It's time to share a painting, new, old in progress.  For this week, I focused on getting my self portrait done, and it mostly is.  My plan is to put it on hold for a week or so then go back for final touch ups.  I'm feeling a wicked tulip craving so, that's what's up for next week.  For now; here's my self portrait:
My current thoughts on this piece:
  • obviously the koi need a bit more shading- the trick is going to be knowing when to stop, as I want them to be somewhat abstracted
  • happy with the background- I'm loving my swirls!
  • one thing that I want to allow to "percolate" in my brain is how many flowers to keep on the robe......
And that's about it for my thoughts on this piece...
Be sure to stop by Paint Party Friday to see what everyone else has been working on this week!
Happy Friday,
Stephanie

lovely self portrait!, I love the swirls too... and I was thinking that I would have trouble knowing when to stop with the roses on the robe, I would probably go too far, but that's the difference with watercolors, you'd have had to plan them out all in advance and not be able to keep adding...

Your self portrait is coming along "swimmingly"! ha! (Sorry, I just can't help myself!)

Seriously though, I think it is wonderful just the way it is :)

I look forward to seeing your tulips next week (Giant wall sized tulips were the first mural I ever painted)...
