I'm still here!

Sorry I've been MIA for so long.....it's been a roller coaster ride of a life the last several weeks!  I find it really hard to strike a balance between being personal on my blog and not getting too personal, so I didn't want to write about this until I knew what I was dealing with.  To make a long story short; two and a half weeks ago, I found a (painful) lump in one of my breasts and went to the doctor who sent me for a mammogram and sonograms which led to a visit with a surgeon who ordered a biopsy- last week was a whirlwind of in and out of various doctor's offices and the word "cancer" was thrown into more conversations than I like to think about.  Anyway, I didn't want ya'll to have to play the waiting game with me, so I'm writing this now too say that the results came back negative.  We will have to deal with the lump which turned out to be a chronic/acute abscess, but that's nothing compared to what it could have been!
I think of my friends in blogland as real friends- almost to the level of family, so it seemed important to share this with you even tho' it has nothing to do with art or any of the various ways of creating it.  And I would have shared this earlier, but I just couldn't think of a way to write about it without voicing the many fears I was experiencing while I was going through it.
I will leave you with a peek into my garden as it was last week - my refuge for when I was trying to stay positive and not be scared and also manage to keep all these worries from my children- one more level of the roller coaster, I expect.

You must have been through hell and back Stephanie...and there was me thinking you had gone on holiday and run off with a waiter....
So glad your news is positive and you can live a normal life again free from worry. Sending you hugs, Annette x

Stephanie,i am so glad to hear that it was good news. it must have been horrendous waiting for the results. thank you for sharing this with us-i know what you mean about that fine line between keeping it just about art and letting more personal elements of your life into your blog. i think my online friends probably know more about the little hassles in my life than my actual real life friends these days! this is a big deal though and i feel privileged that you felt able to share. i'm just glad all is ok.

So, so glad to read of the positive outcome. I cannot imagine what you've been going through the past couple of weeks but although what you did have was painful, thank goodness it wasn't worse. Wish I could give you a big (gentle) hug right now.

whew... what a relief!! And what a scare! Big hug Stephanie to go through that! So glad it is only an abscess that I hope they will quickly fix for you.

Gardens help alleviate stress, don't they? (At least when they aren't full of weeds and causing stress!)

Oh, I am so relieved for you! I've been wondering where you were, thinking you were on an extended vacation. I'm glad your wait is over and now you know. Big hug to you!

The garden looks even better now that we have the results of your biopsy. I know the lump is painful, and must be dealt with, but you said it when you admitted things could have been a LOT worse. Breathing a big sigh of relief here, dear.

I'm so glad all that worry and waiting is over for you sweetie. And sometimes things like this, tough as they are at the time, help give us a richer appreciation of all the things we have to be grateful for.

Your garden is so restful, it must be a lovely place to sit. I feel calmer just looking at it! x
