For this week's PPF, I have two WIP's to show. The first is a portrait of a Chocolate lab named Miles....he's almost done, just a little tweaking to do. I like to include a combination of shading and line work in my pencil drawings.
So I'll do a little shading on his ears and just a touch on his hind foot and then call him done! I love working in pencil- it's funny but lately I spend so much time painting, that I forget how much I enjoy working in other mediums.....
For my other WIP, I started a new painting for this week's challenge at Inspiration Avenue- the theme is "Wings" so I chose to do a butterfly surrounded by zinnias. I'm planning to work to the edges of the tape, then re tape along the painted edges and finish the composition in a paler palette creating a "frame" of sorts...I've never done this before, but I'm really excited about seeing how it turns out.
Here's what I have so far:
Be sure to stop by Paint Party Friday to see what everyone else has been up to- it's always an amazing collection of work!
Cheers,
Stephanie

You are really good with drawing and painting animals! I've never been able to accomplish what you have-maybe since I don't have pets. The butterfly also will be a real masterpiece. Love the composition.
Fabulous drawing of that great dog, he looks so happy and your other WIP is looking fab already. Look forward to seeing how the experiment works out. Happy PPF, Annette x
Love your pencil drawing of the dog, and your painting looks very interesting! Valerie
That dog is amazing - he almost came off the page to sniff my hand when I held it out!
Can't wait to see the finished painting too. My 'wings' were decidedly tenuous this week!
Great work ~ you sure have talented ~ Thanks!

oooh, I love them both, the drawing is so perfect. You did a great job shading!
Miles is awesomeness with personality Stephanie! Sounds like your other piece is going to be just as fantastic - intrigued by the tape framing idea...happy creating!
Miles is fantastic - i love it when it looks like dogs are smiling!
I really like your painting as well and am intrigued to see how the paler palette frame turns out - is it canvas board or paper (just wondering whether the tape will rip up the page when you remove it or if it's special tape?)
Miles is wonderful, reminds me of my Daisy. Labs are such sweet dogs. Your painting is going to be awesome when finished if your progress this far is any indication. Hugs...
What a cute puppy! And I think I spot a butterfly. GOrgeous!

Really beautiful work, Miles is amazing.
These are both beautiful. I love the first one! Reminds me of my black lab named Princess from years ago. :)
I thought I left a comment yesterday, but my brain must have jumped its one track mind. I'm excited to see the frame within the painting that you describe. That butterfly is going to be gorgeous when you finish. And I can't say enough wonderful praises for your dog, either. That is ONE lovely drawing.
Your dog portrait is BEAUTIFUL!! I can't wait to see your finished "wing" painting!! (Thanks for the nudge on joining on IA this week - for some reason I didn't even realize I had a painting that matched up with this week's theme - love that synchronicity!) :)
Two excellent works in the making. You are a gifted artist Stephanie.
Miles looks great and I'm anxious to see how the watercolor framing thing turns out. Sounds interesting!
