So, here is my "Venus a la Klimt" or "Birth of Venus" I haven't quite decided yet. But she is done and I am using her for my entry at
Inspiration Avenue. The theme for the week is "Hello Spring" and since it was my turn to host, it would be pretty embarrassing if I didn't have anything to submit!
I had another reason for needing to finish her for today. The gallery that shows my work is featuring me and three other artists at an opening tonight and they wanted a couple more pieces for the window. So, that's where she is for the time being. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time- it's been more than 20 years since I had an opening! Earlier this week, I actually had a dream that I showed up for the opening without any clothes.......that's when I realized that I was a bit nervous ;)
Enjoy your weekend, my friends. And be sure to stop by
Inspiration Avenue to see a bounteous collection of Spring inspired art!

Of course she is gorgeous, and I know she will be perfect in the window. You may be nervous now, but by the time you get dressed tonight (and of course you will get dressed), all the butterflies will be gone and you will feel right at home talking about your art, your studio, or whatever others will be asking you. Good luck this evening. I truly believe it will be a success.
Gorgeous!! I love her!
Outstanding work!
What amazing painting!
Hugs & Smiles,
Mila :)
She looks gorgeous - and how great for you that your work will be featured in a gallery. I hope you'll have a great time tonight at the opening - oh of course you will! Wonderful work.
Congratulations on the show sweetie! No need to be nervous, your paintings are amazing! She is a beauty. You are UBER talented and I am sure your paintings will cause people to stop and stare and hopefully want to hang them on their wall to look at whenever they want to.
Hugs,
Tammy
this is fabulous - I love how you did the hair...very cool (great prompt by the way)
Here I am 35 miles away in Monroe, GA reading about your opening tonight! Congratulations! I wish I could make it in to see your work in person and to meet you, but I promised my son and his girlfriend that we would come to Athens tonight to have dinner with them. Someday soon, though, Stephanie, we must get together. I love your work and your blog. The minute I saw this beautiful lady, Venus came to mind. Which gallery represents you? I'll be in Decatur tomorrow between 12-5 working at the Decatur Mkt & Gallery, so if you are free, please stop by. I hope your opening goes beautifully tonight!
Oh, lovely lovely lovely! I do love her hair, well I love the entire piece! She is beautiful. Congratulations on your show, I know it will be a huge success! Don't be nervous...Elizabeth is right, all the butterflies will disappear once it gets going!

What does one say at an opening for a gallery show ? Spill some paint ? Break a brush ? Well all of that and enjoy the process !
