More on my August page for the sistahs.....

For this week's Paint Party Friday, I'm sharing a little more of my August journal page for the Traveling Sketchbooks.  I'm almost done but now, I need some input....
I found a quote I want to incorporate into the design:
"Whilst August yet wears her golden crown,
ripening fields lush- bright with promise;
Summer waxes long, then wanes, quietly passing
Her fading green glory onto rioutous Autumn
Michelle L. Thieme~ August's Crown
I'm definitely using the quote somewhere in here- but, this is where I need help!  I originally had planned on writing it in the solid areas- but, now, I like then the way they are....then I thought I could glue some ribbon in and tie a scroll onto the page with the quote or make an envelope be part of the page?
Which would you do?
I seriously need help here!
Oh and, once again, I'm double dipping- this is my entry for this week's challenge at Inspiration Avenue!  Be sure to stop by both Paint Party Friday and IA- there is always so much great stuff to see!
Happy Friday,
Stephanie

Gorgeous work, Stephanie. I love the quote as well. If it were only one line long, it would look good in white along the bottom in the colored rectangle. But since it is fairly long, I'm not sure what to do with it. It does go so well with the lovely painting.

Cool - just as I was visiting you, I got a message from you!!

Not sure where to put the quote - what about in that white bit at the top? I'm always nervous about incorporating quotes into nearly finished pieces.

She's looking great as she is. I was going to double up on my challenges this week too - but Amy was not really the 'sunkissed' type.

I've got some WIP that might make it!

This is gorgeous! I think it looks beautiful as is. You could use your idea with the quote attached in an envelope and it would at least get the message of the quote included.

I do LOVE the quote. One option would be to divide the quote up in the red areas. You would still have the white area as a solid space. Then the quote would be visible. Just a thought. :)

woo hoo its a fabulous spread Stephanie. I agree with Pam's idea, except I would put the words around the white area......OR....put the words on a Tag and let it hang free on the right side of the red area.....but heck what do I know........lol Enjoy the weekend and Happy PPF, Annette x

Wow! I love this! And the quote is perfect. I would write it on the artwork. :)

The painting is stunning and I love how the sun goddess turned out. The quote is perfect for it - I would probably write it into the colored areas.

This is beautiful, love the warm colours and her beautiful delicate features!! I like the idea of the scroll if you don't want to write on the painting :0)

Stunning painting. Something about her eyes just keep me lingering and I love the palette, too. How about hand writing the quote on tissue or rice paper and have it as an overlay? Only attach it at the top so we can peek under the overlay for the full color version :) Just a thought. I can't wait to see what you do with it and see it in person!!

xx Jaime

Oh, I love how this has turned out! The colors, the sun/sunflower in the background, all just give a feel of August.

I'm kind of liking the envelope idea, with the quote inside. Would kind of repeat the square (or rectangular) element. Love the tag idea too (as Netty said).

I love it but I'm afraid i have no advice for you, I'm sure however you work it out it'll look great. it's so much fun isn't it?

I like your piece very much! I feel your original idea to put the text in the purple area is where it needs to be for balance sake. Also, without the text in that area, it makes the purple band seem like it doesn't belong. I hope I explained that correctly...I'm not good with explanations. :-)

Such a pretty self portrait, Stephanie! I agree...put the quote (it's perfect) on the purple band. It is a beautiful page!
I am sorry to say...I didn't get my project done this week. And I am going away. And my computer is broken. I am stealing time on a friends...

If this were mine, I'd put it in the orange band behind the tree, just a few shades darker than the band, so that it looks like a texture until you got close enough to read the words.

It's really beautiful.

Beautiful!

I love the idea of the quote written on a ribbon.

Thanks for the kind comment on my blog!

Happy PPF!

This turned out so beautifully. Adding a quote will be challenging, especially since it's so long. Of the ideas already suggested my faves are to to it on tissue as an overlay or on the orange stripe behind the tree, maybe using white ink. I too like the large purple squares but if you put words in one or the other, it will go out of balance I think. Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be perfect!

A very beautiful painting. I love the layout and the sunflower and her blue eyes are enchanting. As for the quote, I like the idea of a tag with the envelope. Very nice.

Visiting from IA. I really like how the colors blend from warm to cool over the page. Beautiful expression!

Beautiful page, she's beckoning and waiting, just lovely!

Maybe add a small part of the quote to the solid areas...then attach a small scroll, as well? I liked the scroll idea a bunch!

This is incredibly gorgeous. Love the tree and the sun goddess. Although composition is my poorest quality, I feel it belongs on the dark areas. Even though I like the idea of a scroll, I think the dark areas need something more.

You could maybe start the quote in the white ( with dark pen) wrapping around the corners then continued in the bottom left dark part ( with light pen, glitter gold? ) wrapped the opposite way around corner, kind of a yin yang thing. Whatever you choose I'm sure it will be beautiful! I love the orange in your tree scene, reminds me of red canyons in the background! Gorgeous! Deb

Beautiful! I love the way you use separation, especially with the oranges behind her face and off to the left. You're so talented! I would add the words to something attached if you're definite about wanting to keep the solid shapes solid. Good luck with the finishing!

Lovely piece Steph! I love usin quotes around faces. You could always play around with the words in water-soluble pencil.

I love see the progression and this is really beautifully done. I love the design!!!

I've loved watching this take shape - it's gorgeous!

I love the scroll and evelope as ideas, but for this particular piece I like think the quote on the purple blocks, as you originally planned, would be perfect. You should go with what you feel is best though - I'm sure whatever you do it will look stunning!

This painting has turned out beautifully - gorgeous!

I like the idea of the envelope or scroll but also can see the block of colour being used as originally planned. What about writing on a ribbon and then attaching the quote filled ribbon on top of the block of colour?

I'm sure you'll make the right decision. Maybe just step back from it for a couple of days & then see how you feel. Trust your intuition.

This is a beautiful painting! I love the face! Very nice quote. I believe you could put the words in the darker area's with white ink. That would look great but it is all up to you. I am sure you will make awesome!

It's gorgeous Stephanie! wonderful!. It is so hard to figure out how to add writing sometimes but it sounds like you're getting lots of ideas here.
