I know I'm writing this a little late, but I had computer problems all morning and was just now able to get on :)
For this week's
Paint Party Friday, I'm sharing some changes I made to last week's sunflower. I decided that I needed to make it a bit tighter and as I worked on it some more, I realized where it needs to be for me to call it "finished".....So here it is right now:
Obviously it's not finished but I also decided I want to play with tape again and create a band of contrasting colors down the right side. I really liked the burgundy I had in there last week, just now the WAY I had it placed, so the band will most likely be predominately in burgundies- I might even have that part of the sunflower be one of those that have strips of russet mixed in with the yellow. I'm really trying to find a happy medium between my really tight style and my looser style that combines imagination (even if it's only through the use of color ;)) with attention to detail......so more on that next week. In the meantime, be sure to stop by
Paint Party Friday- there's always so much beautiful art to admire!
Happy Friday!

Very pretty sunflower painting. I'm guessing this is watercolor?
Very nice...love it! Happy PPF! POP ART MINIS
Wow, this is beautiful, Stephanie. I went back to see last week's entry and YES!!! you've made changes that give it a dramatic presence. Don't play too much more with it. I like it now.
The sunflower is beautiful, love the colors. Burgundy would look good with it! Hugs, Valerie

Oh wow, such a perfect sunflower, loving the centre and the wonderful petals. Happy PPF and enjoy the weekend, Annette x
This is so very lovely! I really love the flowing lines and feel to this painting, loving the colour choice too! :0)
I wouldn't have thought you could have made it any better...but you did. If I keep working on something I usually ruin it, so I admire anyone who can make small tweaks and turn a good painting into a great one.
Very lovely ~ can feel the movement ~ a swaying ~ love it ~namaste, CArol (Share the Creative Journey) Happy PPF ^_^
It's not finished yet? Well, it looks great to me!
it looked good last week, and it looks better now!
It's looking really good although I loved the burgundy last week as it made me think of a really warm place - for some reason Arizona even though I've never been (but want to someday!)Although equally the background now makes the flower stand out even more. I'm sure whatever you decide it will be a fabulous painting!
Wow, I had to go back and look at the previous post too, I rememeber thinking it could be done before, but it's so wonderful now! It's always so hard to know when to quit, sometimes I go too far, especially with watercolors you just have to quit or it gets too overworked, but I guess with acrylics that doesn't happen as often.

Absolutely stunning - beautiful work!
OK. You win. When I said it was a finished painting last week, I didn't imagine THIS!
I have to tell you also, Stephanie how much I admire you teaching those art classes! How fulfilling for you! And such a blessing for for humanity. I say Brava to you, my dear sister-friend. ♥♥♥Lisa
Oh Stephanie, its gorgeous, you're doing GREAT!!!! Deb
Tight or loose, your art is always a joy to behold!
It is simply...exquisite! Happy PPF!
Gorgeous. I am loving the blue, myself.
Happy Labor Day weekend !
I thought this painting was wonderful last week, but I have to say - Wow! The changes you have made really made such a beautiful difference... I love your attention to detail :)

I like how the sunflower looks like now. The different shades of blue are beautiful and give it a certain dimension. I actually really like the light shade of red that I can see in the blue. It somehow binds it all together.
My fave sunflower! And you did a wonderful job painting it. :)
oh Stephanie, I thought this looked great last week, but this week... Wow! I like that you've tightened it up a bit. It is really popping! Nothing wrong with having different styles for different pieces. This is beautiful!
Your sunflower is amazing. I'm a fan of these flowers. They are so tall and beautiful. You've done a great job with yours. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful sunflower! I love it!

It is gorgeous as it is - I can only imagine what it will be like when you capture the rest of the ideas in your mind. Looking forward to seeing what's next in it's evolution!
