What's been going on in art class.....

Hello again, yep it's me, still alive and kickin'!  I wanted to poke my head in and share wat we've been doing in art class.  We just finished another month's session and so, I have two finished projects to share with ya'll.
I've been alternating the kinds of projects I'm doing- first we discuss what they want to do and I create a project around that while choosing an art skill to emphasize.  For this month, they wanted to do something on Mythical creatures, so I had them create a creature of their choice and design an environment for it.  The paper I gave them was broken up into comic book panels and we were focused on telling a story with pictures.

And here's how they turned out- VERY cool, I think!
 Leila did a fairy......
 and Colson chose a dragon.....

Then for the "me" project, I chose to focus on art history that was also a nod to their LOVE of gold!  We did swirly trees and concentric circles and a brief study on Gustave Klimt and his style.  I love this project, have done it many times and no matter what, it always turns out gorgeous!
I guess you can tell I like gold too?

And voila!  A masterpiece!

I think that's more than enough from me for one day!  I have been doing my own painting (a little ;)) plus cooking for the Farmer's Market and I have fall flowers waiting to go in te ground...I can't believe it's October!  And you know what tat means?  The next art projects will be Halloween- oh yeah!
xx for now,
Stephanie

You should print all of the blog posts pertaining to your class and have the students make a journal..I know it would be something they would treasure when they are grown up. What a lot they could learn (and have been learning) from you!

Hey Sistah! I love love love their sweet little creatures and the trees are beautiful. I know you love you some Kimt. I'm jealous that you are putting in flowers in October while they're about to wither here. Another couple cold nights and mine will be done in. :(

I would've loved to have had the opportunity to have the kind of one on one classes you are giving these kids. How blessed... for all of you!

xx Jaime

These young people are positively incredible artists already. They look like they are having so much fun, too. It shows in their intensity. I'm thrilled you take all those photos so these kids see their progress, too.

Your art workshops look fab fun- I'd love to join in. Gorgeous art results. Another example of the amazing imagination of children. I've been trying to combine my love of swirls and trees but my results pale in comparison to these :-) But instead of being discouraged I feel inspired to try again. Thanks :-)

Such a treat to peek into your classes. The children's art work is always so cool! I know they have to enjoy it as much as you do if not more. The parents have got to love all of their masterpieces.

You know I had a whole wall dedicated to my children's favorite pieces of art they made over the years. I framed them all in those inexpensive black and acrylic frames so that the art popped and they loved it and so did all of our guests.

I know I've said this before but you should do adult classes. I'd join in.

Tammy
