Paint Party Friday- Week 26

I'm late, I'm LATE for A very important date.....or rather, I'm late for this week's Paint Party Friday!  Better late than never, though- this is something I look forward to ALL week, so I'm just glad to be here! With Monday being a holiday and then spending the rest of the week trying to catch up on housework, taking care of sick children ad an ailing husband, I feel quite lucky to be here at all!
I only had a tiny window to paint, so I spent it trying to finish my sunflower...and I did, almost....it's pretty much done in my opinion except for a bit of tweaking here and there.  And I really glad I kept pushing and changing; because I feel like I'm getting closer and closer to my own style.
So here it is:
It's funny to me that once I get my art up on the monitor, I immediately see areas I want to touch up...here, the first thing that jumped out at me was the leaves need more contrast between that band of magenta and the cobalt background...other than that, and a few touch ups on the flower; I'm ready to call it "done"
Try to take a few minutes to visit the other folks at Paint Party Friday, it's always wonderful to see such a beautiful variety of art!
Cheers,
Stephanie

Lovely painting. I haven't been painting much lately but hope to get back to it soon. One thing my instructor told us was to look at our work in a mirror. It's amazing what you will see.

That's quite a difference to last Friday!!! I like the band of magenta, it gives the painting someting special - I can't really name it, and it also changes the balance positively. The cobalt has become richer as well.

I've loved seeing the journey you went on with this one and it has definitely changed through the background - I love the magenta strip and how the tone of the sunflower leaves changes as it runs through that stripe. It's gorgeous.

Beautiful job on the sunflower! I often see things on the computer that I couldn't/didn't see when it was on the easel. I love your garden too! Happy PPF!

I love the sunflower. It is gorgeous. I also, find I need to do something after posting my artwork. Sometimes, I rework it and then re-post the picture. Posting has been a great teacher in that way.

Great detail in the flower and I like that strip of pink that shifts the contrast. Regarding seeing things you would change now that it's on the monitor: it's great to have a different way of looking at our art to see it with fresh eyes. I think your paintings is great just as it is, but I appreciate the sentiment that you shared. :)

Stephanie, you may see flaws with your sunflower but I see none! It is a wonder to behold. I like the muted green leaves. This one is just great and maybe will be the style you finalize on.

Here I am visiting far later than your entry. I'm so glad to see your sunflower is almost finished. It has been a fun journey to watch it develop. I'm sorry to read you have sick kids and hubby to deal with. Have your art classes ended? I bet the kids learned a LOT!

Wow, such a gorgeous Sunflower. Adore the magenta colour and varying green tones in the leaves. The rich magenta you chose to incorporate I think gives the overall painting more dimension.Beautiful!

I saw a field of sunflowers near my home and took some pics for winter inspiration when all is white and cold outside I may try to paint one or two.

Wow! I didn't think you could improve on it but you've added so much with that band of magenta. It's stunning! I just love it.
