Paint Party Friday- Week 27

I got Brandy's beautiful sketchbook this week; just in time to start something for Paint Party Friday!  I was so inspired by my friend Jaime's leaf prints a couple weeks ago, I knew I wanted to do something similar for my background so yesterday, I had a great time painting and printing!  Then I sketched in a mask (not sure why I wanted to do a mask, but the muse insisted, and who am I to ignore her?)  So, this is what I have so far...To finish it; I'm going to add a little more veining and Robert Frost's poem "Nothing Gold can stay..."
At first I was worried that it would be too "Halloweeny" but I decided to paint it anyway and see where it from there- I knew if I had to, I could save it for my October pages, but I'm really happy with it as a September piece.  What do you think?  Should I keep it for September or save it for October?
Be sure to stop by Paint Party Friday- that's where I'll be all weekend, enjoying a gorgeous variety of artists and their art!

You're going down a similar theme to me this week - I'm laying down autumn colours for my IA piece too. The 'mask' is mysterious and seductive at the same time. Magic is weaving its way into this :)

I'm crazy about this piece. I can see why you added the mask. It really gives off a mysterious and magical feel to the painting. I think this is perfect for September, but of course I love all those leaves in the background.

gorgeous depth in those leaf prints. your colors are so rich and yummy. love the way the mask is made of leaves. Works well for September - very autumn/harvest kind of feel.

This is just breathtakingly beautiful. It's not Halloweeny at all, unless you start adding black.

No, just perfectly gorgeous, and when you add the Robert Frost poem? Perfection.

LOL! Stephanie, we sure seem to be thinking alike for some of these pages. Same quote (August's Crown) and using Jaime's leaf print idea was what I was planning for the September spread (whenever that sketchbook arrives).

I love this - it is so gorgeous and the mask ethereal and not hallowe'eny at all. Oddly in some ways it strikes me as very Septembery - start of a new (school) year - putting on a new face (and sometimes that new face for school IS a mask).

Lucky Brandy!

Lovely! I don't think it's too Halloweeny...it has a softness about it, like the leaves are floating about.
