I did take the liberty of flipping it- I'm not sure why, but I prefer it this way. Anyway, I decided to post it in it's unfinished-ness for Paint Party Friday- my new favorite Friday hangout! Hopefully, I'll be able to pull myself from the party to get this finished- if not, I'll be posting a WIP at IA as well as PPF! My current thoughts on this piece are;
- the stripey section- I like the dark tones, but want to change the green- maybe pale cobalt?
- not sure I like the green roses am again thinking of cobalt plus more magenta.....
- there will be more abstracty white/cream lines swirling throughout
- the three "squares" represent my children and will feature either butterflies or Koi
I also got a kick out doing this, because I need something to represent myself in my traveling sketchbook. More on that later......
So Happy Paint Party Friday- see you guys tomorrow!
Stephanie

This is beautiful and so are YOU! Wow, you've really done a good capturing you. Your right on with the face and expressive smile Perfect. Nice job.
Stephanie...I LOVE this self portrait. It is awesome and so captures you...such a beauty!!! I love butterflies but for some reason I think the Koi's would fit more into the painting. Just my thoughts ^_^
Hugs,

You always pull your colors together so go with what you are thinking!!!
This is a wonderfully original and inventive take on a self portrait! I love your halloween costume btw! I think the colours you've used are fantastic together with the whimsical and steampunk elements. I can't wait to see this finished.
OOooh, Stephanie!! I LOVE this one. Sooo creative with the background, and the flip.
Don't know which I like more...the artwork or the reference! Wonderful idea for self-portrait. Ya gotta do one with the cat!!!
Awesome! Love the face.
I love this piece ...so whimsical! You did a great job on the self portrait.
I remember the post from Halloween, and I love the photo, as well as the painted image you created from your photo. I actually like the green, but I'm sure you must see a bigger picture.
Hi I like your self portrait is a way of showing oiginal. And how do surprises me, I work from a sketch and took all the work at once (stained, dark, light and glare) in that order. Greetings
Elegant and creative...I'm loving it as is so far, but the creams will be a nice touch later. You are inspiring me to create another self portrait...maybe a little pinup-style painting just for giggles! I love your work, chica! Happy PPF!!
This is such a fun self-portrait! (I really like the green roses - I think they are a wonderful complement to the red cloak)
I'm looking forward to seeing this finished...

A very lively piece. The color palette works well together. Love to see the finished work. Well Done! ;)
Oh I really love this Stephanie. The colors just jump out at you. She/you look so happy and ready to face the world type of look. Great job.
This is just a wonderful self portrait...the colors gorgeous!:-)
this is beautiful, looks like the party side of yourself, definitely outgoing.
Great WIP - and such a fun self-portrait! Perfect for a party!!
Representing yourself - it is a tough one to figure out, I think! This is great!
I just love everything about this painting. I can't wait to see it done. I am playing along this week with IA too. Party perfect! ~Theresa
I love this piece too! The playfulness has certainly come out and it's almost very French looking. Since you mentioned the flowers, what about making them yellow for a more analagous color scheme. That would make them pop. Can't wait to see it finished. Have a great day.
Wow! This is gorgeous! So creative to use the costume as inspiration. Love your colors and I agree with you; I like it flipped this way. Steampunk addition is GREAT! Looking forward to the finished piece!
Wow, Awesome - you really captured yourself which is for me hard to do. Wonderfully done and so much fun to look at with all the great elements you have added.
Just wonderful - you definitely captured that playful element.
I'm loving this! I wouldn't say it was comical, but fun and lighthearted. I think it's going to be smashing!
Totally gorgeous and what a fun way to do a self portrait. What a great halloween costume, too, btw!
Oh, and I love the green roses, though on my computer they look more blue than green.
What a wonderful self portrait! So fun!
You really captured a likeness Stephanie. Love it all,the costume, the makeup, the composition, your angle.....cool!
This is great!! I love the way artists can create a reality, especially around themselves. Love the bold stripes and the fan, and your backwards glance adds a seductiveness...beautiful color contrast! Your cat seems to like your hat :) Happy weekend!
Wow, you did a fantastic job! Self portraits is something that still feels like another universe to me!

This is looking gorgeous. I love the colours, detail and meaning behind it. Plus I'm amazed at how you've captured the likeness from the photo. So talented!!
