This week's challenge at Inspiration Avenue was "Peaches and Cream" so, for my submission, I started a new painting of a glorious french parrot tulip which, alas, isn't quite complete. I'd planned to finish it this morning before the deadline, but had forgotten that we would have a house full of 14 year old ladies celebating Emmie's birthday.............
SO
I very luckily happen to have a lovely feline who also fits the bill; Peri. BTW, I did NOT pose him for this, HE chose what book to make a bed from!
For anyone who's curious for a peek at my new WIP, here it is. Not sure I like the black background, and I haven't decided whether to keep it or change it. *Sigh*, backgrounds give me more trouble than anything.... Any opinions; black or something different?

Wow your painting is gorgeous! It's hard to imaging you getting it finished in time even without the house full of ladies, what talent! I honestly don't' know about the background, I looked through your shop and all of your creations are beautiful so all I can say is go with what you feel.
Your feline pal is just too cute! Love his choice in light reading, lol!
I love tulips so much and your paintings are always incredible. You must have such patience to cope with all that detail. What is it with cats that they must always sit on papers/books/magazines....??
wow!! that looks amazing!! just the details of the different shades on the petals have me gobsmacked. you are right, i too have a lot of problems with backgrounds when i paint, so i dun think i'll be a good candidate to take advise from :p
LOL!! everyone's been showing their kitties this week and they all look so contented and fat :)) CUTE!!
I am always amazed at the incredible detail in your paintings of flowers! Gorgeous!
Your cat is a perfect submission for Peaches and Cream! What an unusual pale color. Maybe he is trying to keep you from reading the book?
This is absolutely gorgeous, Stephani! Your paintings of flowers are always beautiful. One of my favorite tulips is the Parrot tulip. I painted one and have it hanging in my art room. I say keep the black background. It makes your tulip POP.

I like the black background. Can't say why, I just instantly thought "keep it". The detail on those petals is amazing!
beautiful striking art dramatic and realistic
i just love your flowers & peri too!
You are so talented. I love your work.
I like the black background. It really makes the flower pop, but that's just my opinion. I'd wait and go with the flow. Maybe your muse will tell you something:)
Hugs,
Charlie
Thanks for all the lovely comments! Yesterday, I got the leaves done and now I'm really happy with the background; so just a bit more touch up and hopefully, I'll be done :)
